4-Day Ngorongoro Crater & Tarangire Np Mid-Range Tour

Today we will wake up early in the morning and after breakfast, we will drive into the amazing Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact crater in the world. The crater life is estimated at 30,000 large mammals.

Due to its natural borders, wildlife is abundant throughout the conservation area which is home to the Big Five. The crater spreads for 102 sq. miles and has 2.000 ft high walls, making it virtually Noah's ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It's one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the Black Rhino. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest, and open plains. It's also famous for its elephants which, are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World.

After the game, you will drive straight to Karatu at your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Early morning after breakfast you will leave for your full-day tour. Take a visit to Olduvai Gorge and walk along to see the shifting sand which is the remarkable black dune, composed of volcanic ash from Oldoinyo Lengai, which is being blown slowly westwards across the plains, at the rate of about 17 meters per year. Some nine meters high and 100 meters long in its curve, it can be found to the north of Olduvai Gorge.
Olduvai Gorge is a site in Tanzania that holds the earliest evidence of the existence of human ancestors. You will enjoy your day and have lunch at the picnic site. After lunch, we will have time for a short game drive and then ascend the crater and exit Ngorongoro Conservation Area towards Karatu to your lodge for leisure and overnight stay.

At 7 am after breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel by your safari guide and driven to Tarangire National Park. Enjoy the wildlife! Your overnight stay will be at Sangaiwe Tented Camp. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
Tarangire National Park is almost 3000 sq km in size and is probably best known for its huge numbers of elephants and baobab trees. The name of the park comes from the Tarangire River which crosses through the park. Tarangire is especially spectacular during the dry season (June - November) as wildlife concentrations rival that of the Serengeti. This is because enormous populations of elephants and other animals are drawn to the Tarangire River as their only source of water. With its varied habitats and permanent water in the Tarangire River, the park is home to over 2000 elephants and 500 bird species.

This day you will have a full-day game drive that will give you more chances to explore many areas of this great national park that has a good and high concentration of elephant population in Tarangire River where they get water, especially during the dry season, the huge baobab trees will be also one of the best highlights as this is one of the areas that this type of trees grow very big in the northern part of the country. You will also have a chance to drive along the Silale swamp for bird sightings and a chance to see the cats/carnivores around this area that wait for the animals to come and feed on grass and drink water.
We expect to be back in Arusha around 5 pm although we are flexible in case there is a flight to catch or another situation.
